Abstract

Regional food vulnerability is a multidimensional issue that demands cross-sectoral intervention. The performance indicator, Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU), remains below the target, recording 8.53% compared to the target of 5.2%. Nevertheless, this figure represents an improvement from 2022, when the PoU was 10.21% against a target of 5.5% (Table 6). The declining PoU rate in Indonesia reflects progress consistent with the country’s economic recovery following the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. Most disparities in regional food vulnerability occur in the eastern regions of Indonesia, necessitating integrated and region-specific interventions. The analysis indicates that factors influencing food insecurity include socioeconomic conditions, environmental factors, and food accessibility. Socioeconomic challenges such as poverty, low income, and unemployment hinder households from fulfilling their food requirements. Environmental pressures, including climate change and extreme weather events, disrupt food production and distribution systems. Furthermore, limited food accessibility, influenced by infrastructure, transportation networks, and food availability in certain regions, also plays a critical role.
