Abstract

This study aims to determine the smoking habits of parents who have toddlers with pneumonia at Community Health Center X. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a total of 77 respondents selected through purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire containing 10 questions, and the data were analyzed univariately in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that the maority of respondents were active smokers (54.4%), while the rest were passive smokers (45.5%), with most of them smoking at home and near their children. The characteristics of respondents were dominated by parents aged over 30 years, secondary education (high school), and working as self-employed. Exposure to cigarette smoke, both directly and indirectly, has been proven to be an important factor contributing to the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. The conclusion of this study is the need to increase health education to families about the dangers of smoking in the home environment and the importance of creating a smoke-free environment as a preventive measure to protect children's health.
