Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nurse burnout and patient safety culture. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 105 nurses selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires measuring burnout and patient safety culture. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS through descriptive statistics, normality testing of unstandardized residuals, simple linear regression, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings showed that nurse burnout had a significant negative relationship with patient safety culture (B = -0.473; β = -0.648; t = -8.637; p < 0.001). The regression equation was Y = 121.384 - 0.473X, while the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.420) indicated that burnout explained 42.0% of the variance in patient safety culture. It can be concluded that higher nurse burnout scores are associated with lower patient safety culture scores. These findings highlight the importance of addressing nurse burnout as part of hospital management efforts to strengthen patient safety culture and improve the quality of healthcare services.
