This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of occupational therapy as an effort to improve self-esteem in patients with low self-esteem. The research method used is a literature review with a descriptive-analytical approach to research articles published in 2024–2026 and obtained through several scientific databases. The results of the study indicate that occupational therapy in various forms, such as making crafts, drawing, gardening, sewing, and other creative activities, generally provide positive changes to the self-esteem and psychosocial aspects of patients with mental disorders. Occupational therapy provides opportunities for patients to develop abilities, complete activities, produce work, and gain successful experiences that can support positive self-assessments. In conclusion, occupational therapy has the potential to be used as a supporting intervention to improve self-esteem in patients with low self-esteem. Suggestions are that nurses can implement occupational therapy in a structured manner and tailor it to the abilities, interests, and conditions of the patient. While further research is expected to use a larger sample size and a more robust research design.
