Persepsi Pasien Asam Urat terhadap Penggunaan Obat Tradisional

This study aims to explore gout patients' perceptions of the use of traditional medicine in the Wania Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area in Mimika Regency. The method used was qualitative, employing descriptive phenomenology. Based on thematic analysis used in data processing, five main themes were identified: (1) type of traditional medicine used (herbal concoctions, massage), (2) reasons for use (natural, minimal side effects, economical), (3) perceived effectiveness (reducing pain and swelling), (4) obstacles (difficulty in preparing, ingredients not always available), and (5) support and expectations (recognition and support from health facilities). In conclusion, patient perceptions of traditional medicine are influenced by culture, economics, accessibility, and personal experience. Nurses are expected to implement culturally sensitive nursing care and integrate patient beliefs into health education.
