Tradisi Adat Tawas Jaa Dan Pembelajaran IPS Dalam Perspektif Postmoderenisme

The Tawas Jaa tradition represents a collective value system of the Dayak Deah community that integrates spiritual, social, ecological, and cultural dimensions into a single ritual practice. More than a cultural preservation effort, this tradition reflects a social mechanism for maintaining communal harmony and serves as a living and sustainable medium for character education. This study aims to explore the meaning and socio-cultural educational values embedded in the Tawas Jaa tradition and to contextualize its relevance within the teaching of Social Studies (IPS) under the Merdeka Curriculum, using a post modernist lens. Employing a qualitative approach and literature analysis, the findings reveal that values such as mutual cooperation, social responsibility, respect for ancestors, as well as tolerance and diversity can be integrated into contextual learning that aligns with the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. From a post modern perspective, the incorporation of local traditions into education serves as a form of deconstruction of the dominant national educational narrative and creates space for local narratives as legitimate and meaningful sources of learning. In this regard, Tawas Jaa is not only a cultural heritage but also a pedagogical instrument relevant for strengthening students’ cultural identity, social solidarity, and multicultural awareness.
