Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of marital status and educational level on unemployment status in Mataram City. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study population consists of residents who are part of the labor force in Mataram City. Based on data from the Mataram City Central Statistics Agency, the labor force in August 2023 totaled 220,880 people. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error, resulting in 100 respondents. Research data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using binary logistic regression with IBM SPSS. The results of the study indicate that marital status does not have a significant effect on unemployment status, with a significance value of 0.822. Educational level also had no significant effect on unemployment status, with a significance value of 0.180 for elementary education and 0.116 for secondary education compared to higher education. Taken together, marital status and educational level also had no significant effect on unemployment status, with a significance value of 0.367. The Nagelkerke R-squared value of 0.051 indicates that the two independent variables in the model account for 5.1% of the variation in unemployment status, while the remaining 94.9% is attributed to factors outside the research model. Thus, marital status and educational level have not been statistically proven to have a significant effect on unemployment status in Mataram City.
