Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the forms of responsibility values in the novel Rindu Terpisah di Raja Ampat by Kirana Kejora and to analyze how these values are integrated into the novel’s narrative structure. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with a literary ecocriticism approach. The primary data were quotations from the novel, collected through intensive reading and note-taking, and then analyzed using content analysis in three stages: identifying quotations, classifying them by type of responsibility, and interpreting their meaning and narrative integration. The results reveal three forms of responsibility values. First, professional responsibility, shown in the evaluation research on fishing-boat assistance carried out by the character Rindu Eidelweis. Second, ecological responsibility, shown in the environmentally friendly diving practices of Karang Biru and the local community’s commitment to protecting the sea. Third, social responsibility, shown in mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and the rejection of resource exploitation. These values are integrated into the conflict, climax, and resolution of the story through the characters’ actions, flashbacks, and symbolism. In conclusion, responsibility in the novel is a complementary ethical attitude that drives the narrative and reflects a harmonious relationship among humans, work, and the environment.
