Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Menulis Teks Deskripsi Berbasis Pengetahuan Lokal untuk Peserta Didik

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the need for developing teaching materials for writing descriptive texts based on local knowledge of Magelang for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tegalrejo; (2) produce a prototype of the teaching materials; and (3) determine the validity of the developed materials as assessed by experts. The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, limited to the fifth stage—design revision. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and the distribution of needs-analysis and feasibility-test questionnaires to students, educators, and experts. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The results indicate that students and educators require supplementary teaching materials that integrate the local knowledge of Magelang. The developed module design includes a cover and content consisting of instructional material and assignments. Validation results show high ratings from subject matter experts (4.7), media experts (4.8), and educators (4.7), indicating that the module is highly suitable for use. In conclusion, the module for teaching how to write descriptive texts—based on the local knowledge of Magelang—aligns with the identified needs and is highly appropriate for use as supplementary teaching material and an additional learning resource for students. It also serves as a reference for future researchers to test the effectiveness of the product.
