Case Report: Penerapan Intervensi Teknik Flushing Post Pemberian Obat Injeksi untuk Mencegah Terjadinya Phlebitis pada Pasien yang Dirawat di Rumah Sakit

Abstract

The aim of this case study is to determine the effectiveness of the flushing technique in preventing Phlebitis in clients.This research used a case study method by conducting surveys and observations on 4 samples of post-operative patients with similar patient age characteristics. The flushing technique used is flushing 10 mL of 0.9% NaCl fluid. When the patient receives an injection of medication the nurse performs the Flushing Technique. The instrument used is observation. The results of the study showed that of the 4 samples of patients who underwent the same intervention with patient characteristics that were not much different, 1 of them experienced signs of Phlebitis, therefore the flushing technique can be used to prevent the occurrence of Phlebitis in patients. It was found that 1 patient who underwent the flushing technique experienced a decrease in the degree of Phlebitis, the infusion flow was smooth. The conclusion of this case study shows that the flushing technique is effective in preventing Phlebitis.
