Abstract

This study aims to examine students' perceptions of parental social support in fostering learning motivation within the Society 5.0 era. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with 10 students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program (Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Satya Wacana Christian University, Class of 2024), selected via purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis based on Creswell (2024). The results indicate that: (1) students hold positive perceptions of parental social support; (2) emotional support is the most dominant form perceived, followed by instrumental, informational, and appraisal support; (3) parental support serves as a mechanism for students' psychological stabilization; and (4) in the Society 5.0 era, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and social media create digital distractions, making family support increasingly vital. The study confirms that parental social support not only enhances extrinsic motivation but also strengthens students' psychological well-being as they navigate the dynamics of technology-based learning.
