Abstract

This project aims to design pre-walker shoes to avoid postural disorders in the ankle joint when children are at the stage of learning to walk, namely at the age of 8 to 18 months. This research uses the Borg, W. R & Gall R & D (research and development) method using 3 stages out of 10 existing stages, namely; preliminary study and data collection (literature review, field observations, creating a research framework, planning (research objectives, funds, time, research procedures, various forms of participation), developing the initial product (designing the initial draft of the product). The research results show that the designed shoes are able to provide significant protection, all-day comfort, and the stability that children need when using a pre-walker. This report details the design process, research results, and recommendations for production and further improvements.

Keywords: Stability, postural disorders; ankle joint, pre-walker shoes, child 8-18 months
