Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of identifying the extent of community understanding of the concept of physical literacy and the factors that influence it, especially in the area around Kalisat State High School, Sumber Pinang Village, Kalisat District, Jember Regency. The method used was quantitative descriptive, with data collection through distributing questionnaires to 34 respondents. The information collected included data on age, gender, and the level of community understanding of physical literacy. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 26 years (38.3%) and the majority were male (64.7%). In general, the community has a basic understanding of the importance of physical activity, but has not shown active behavior in everyday life. The physical activities carried out are still unplanned, such as gardening or working in the fields. This study concludes that community physical literacy is at a low to moderate level, influenced by minimal fitness education, lack of sports facilities, and the weak role of village institutions and health workers.

Keywords: Physical literacy, physical activity, rural communities, physical fitness.
