Efektivitas Program Makan Siang Gratis Dalam Meningkatkan Status Gizi dan Kebugaran Jasmani Siswa SMP di Kabupaten Bireuen

This study focused on assessing the effectiveness of the MBG program on improving the nutritional status and physical fitness of junior high school students in Bireuen Regency. The research method used a quantitative approach with a sample size of 102 students. Data collection was conducted using two instruments: the Body Mass Index (BMI) to assess nutritional status and the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) to measure students' physical fitness levels. The results showed that 48% of students were in the ideal nutritional category, while 26% were classified as very thin and 21% were underweight. The TKJI physical fitness tests, on the other hand, showed that most students were still not very fit. 51% were classified as Very Poor, 46% as Poor, 3% as Moderate, and none were classified as Good or Very Good. These findings indicate that the MBG plays a positive role in improving nutritional status, but physical fitness does not increase significantly without structured and regular physical activity. This study concludes that MBG can be a strategic step in improving students' nutritional status. However, to achieve optimal results for physical fitness, synergy between nutrition programs and physical education, extracurricular sports, and an active lifestyle is necessary.
