Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of a Games-Based Approach (GBA) on improving underhand passing skills in volleyball among elementary school students. A quantitative methodology was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving the assessment of initial and final competence via an underhand passing skill test. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in underhand passing skill scores following the implementation of the GBA; the mean score rose from 11.57 to 16.33, with a significance value of <0.001. An N-Gain score of 0.362 indicates a moderate level of improvement, reflecting the approach's effectiveness in facilitating active, contextual, and enjoyable learning experiences. These findings reinforce the argument that game-based learning can enhance the mastery of fundamental motor skills in elementary physical education, while also supporting the continued use of innovative instructional practices grounded in cooperative learning theories and educational games.
