This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining the traditional games of sack race and tug of war as preliminary training to improve tiger sprong ability in early-age gymnasts. The method used was a quantitative experiment with a true experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design, involving 30 early-age gymnasts (8-12 years) divided into an experimental group (combined sack race and tug of war) and a control group (squat jump and push-up). The intervention was given for 12 sessions. Tiger sprong ability was measured using the Tiger Sprong Skill Test. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney U Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant improvement in both groups (p=0.001), with the experimental group recording a gain of 12.13 compared to 4.07 in the control group, a statistically significant difference (p=0.000). These findings prove that the combination of sack race and tug of war is effective in improving tiger sprong ability because the approach is contextual, biomechanically specific, and enjoyable for children. This study recommends integrating this method as an effective preliminary training alternative based on local wisdom in early-age gymnastics coaching.
