Analisis Kemampuan Koneksi Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Statistika Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Matematika

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical connection ability of grade VIII students of SMPN 9 Palu in solving statistical story problems reviewed from mathematical skills. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with the research subjects selected based on the results of the final exam of the mathematics subject and the recommendations from the subject teachers are then classified into three categories of mathematical ability: high, medium, and low. The data collection technique was carried out through written tests and interviews, which were then analyzed. The results showed that students with high mathematical ability were able to meet all three indicators of mathematical connection ability. then students with mathematical ability are meeting all three indicators but in the indicators associating mathematical concepts with other mathematical concepts, there are still calculation errors and lack of confidence when working on problems involving large numbers. Furthermore, students with low math ability have not met the three indicators of mathematical connection ability. The ability of students' mathematical connections in solving statistical story problems is greatly influenced by the level of mathematical ability they have. Thus, it can be concluded that the higher the student's mathematical ability, the better the ability of his mathematical connections in solving statistical story problems.
