Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the problem-solving profile of one-variable quadratic equations of class IX A students of MTs Al-Khairaat Tondo. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were class IX A students of MTs AL-Khairaat Tondo who have visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The data collection technique used a written test, namely one-variable quadratic equation questions that had been validated by the validator. Furthermore, interviews were conducted with the subjects after completing the written test. The results of the study show that students with a visual learning style tend to write down information carefully to identify problems, formulate solutions in a planned manner, remember solutions through visual images, explain the advantages and disadvantages of each solution with clear reasons, and choose the best solution with careful consideration. Students with an auditory learning style are able to identify problems clearly through verbal explanations, convert problems into complete equations, remember solutions using hearing, explain the advantages and disadvantages of solutions fluently, and choose the best solution with convincing reasons. Students with kinesthetic learning styles tend to identify problems slowly, define problems using their own language while doing physical activities, develop solutions based on experience, test solutions by referring to previous experiences, and choose the best solution practically based on those experiences. In conclusion, students' learning styles affect the way they identify problems, formulate solutions, and choose the best solution. Students with visual learning styles tend to rely on visual images and careful consideration, auditory students rely more on verbal explanations and convincing reasons, while kinesthetic students prioritize practical experience and physical activity in the problem-solving process.
