Abstract:The increasing demand for electrical energy in university campuses requires the development of energy systems that are reliable, economically feasible, and environmentally sustainable. This study aims to evaluate the technical performance, economic feasibility, and environmental impact of a hybrid energy system integrating Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Wind Turbine (WT), and Waste-to-Energy (WTE) power generation connected to the utility grid. The research methodology involved collecting renewable energy resource data, electrical load profiles, and techno-economic parameters, which were subsequently analyzed using HOMER Pro software to determine the optimal system configuration. The simulation results indicate that the proposed system is capable of generating 972,876 kWh/year of electricity, with renewable energy contributing 717,784 kWh/year or approximately 73.8% of the total annual energy production. The system achieved a renewable fraction of 75.2%, a Net Present Cost (NPC) of IDR 13.85 billion, and a Cost of energy (COE) of IDR 1,122/kWh. Furthermore, the electricity exported to the grid reached 315,694 kWh/year, exceeding the imported electricity of 255,092 kWh/year, indicating that the system operates as a net exporter. From an environmental perspective, the WTE unit utilizes 88.7 tons of municipal solid waste annually while supporting emission reduction and renewable energy utilization. Overall, the results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid system is technically reliable, economically viable, and environmentally beneficial, making it a promising solution for supporting green campus development and sustainable energy implementation.
