Peran Kepala Sekolah dalam Membentuk Budaya Religius Peserta Didik Studi Kasus SMP IT An Nida Kota Lubuklinggau

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the principal’s role in shaping students’ religious culture at SMP IT An Nida in Lubuklinggau City. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, unstructured interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research informants consisted of the principal, vice principals for curriculum and student affairs, Islamic education teachers, and students who were purposively selected based on their involvement in shaping religious culture. Data validity was examined through source and technique triangulation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results showed that the principal played the roles of a role model, motivator, manager, and supervisor in shaping students’ religious culture. These roles were implemented through congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation and memorization, the implementation of the 5S culture, the integration of Islamic values into learning, motivation and recognition, and regular supervision and evaluation. The implementation of these programs positively contributed to students’ discipline in worship, compliance with school rules, responsibility, courtesy, and respect for teachers. However, the implementation still faced challenges, including uneven parental support and limited time for intensive guidance. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the principal’s consistency and exemplary conduct play an important role in shaping students’ religious culture at SMP IT An Nida in Lubuklinggau City.
