Pengaruh Konsentrasi Limbah Air Cucian Beras Terhadap Pertumbuhan Sawi (Brassica juncea L.)

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the effect of several concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from rice-washing wastewater on the growth of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) and to determine the most optimal concentration. The method used was an experimental Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five concentration treatments, namely 0% (P0/control), 25% (P1), 50% (P2), 75% (P3), and 100% (P4), each replicated five times to produce 25 experimental units. The LOF was prepared by fermenting rice-washing wastewater with EM4 and palm sugar for seven days, then applied at 100 ml per plant every five days for 30 days. The observed parameters were number of leaves, leaf length, leaf area, fresh weight, and dry weight, analyzed using one-way ANOVA at 5% and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that rice-washing wastewater significantly affected the number of leaves (p=0.047), leaf length (p=0.011), and leaf area (p=0.022), but had no significant effect on fresh and dry weight; the 25–50% concentration produced the best growth response, whereas 75–100% reduced growth. In conclusion, rice-washing wastewater is potentially useful as a low-cost and environmentally friendly alternative liquid organic fertilizer for mustard cultivation.
